KDHS is a K-10 school with 136 students. They currently have 40 high school students, a portion of which have joined in Year 7 from Kondinin PS, Yealering PS and Hyden PS. The staff and School Board work hard to offer the High School as a viable option for students and their families.
Held early in the year, the KDHS Belongingness Camp is designed to build school culture, a sense of camaraderie amongst the high school students and a sense of belongingness to the school and school community.
The students attend the Dare Adventure Camp at Dwellingup. The camp aims to give the students the opportunity to experience outdoor education in a natural environment. It is aimed to promote teamwork and improved communication skills while meeting new and varied challenges.
This year’s Belongingness camp was great as we got to experience some new things. My favourite activity was doing the Rock Climbing Wall and Crate Climb.

Activities encourage students in team building, confidence building, trust activating, leadership skills, resilience, decision making skills and communication skills. The camp gives the students and staff an opportunity to develop strong, sustainable relationships, built on trust and understanding. It gives current and emerging leaders a chance to shine and helps develop a sense of belonging in all students.
I thought that camp was a great new experience as we got to do things we have never tried before, but we also built on our team work with the games and strategies.
Jacinta
Through sponsorship the camp will be fully subsidised, so there is no financial barrier for students to attend. The KDHS Board has fundraised to ensure this is possible. Such is the importance that they place on this camp, funds are independent of KDHS funding sources.
The Belongingness Camp this year was fun and exciting even though we got lots of cuts, scrapes, bumps and bruises. My favourite activities were Archery Tag, the Crate Climb and the 12 Foot Climb. My least favourite activities were the 12 Metre Rock Wall (terrifying by the way) and the Mud Crawl. The food was usually really good and the Councillors were amazing. I enjoyed my stay and would go there again if given the chance.
